Riftr is in closed beta. Real purchases are disabled. Listings you create now will become live once the marketplace fully launches. Final Terms will replace this Beta document and require fresh acceptance before any payments can be processed.
1. About These Beta Terms
These Beta Terms govern your use of the Riftr app during its closed beta phase. They form a binding contract between you and the operator of Riftr (currently Eladio Rubio Hernandez, Fermanagh-Weg 3, 33647 Bielefeld, Germany — see Imprint). The full Terms of Service for the live marketplace will replace these Beta Terms and require fresh acceptance before any real purchase transactions become possible.
2. What the Beta Covers
During the beta:
- You can create an account and use the app as a tracker, deck builder, collection manager and card scanner.
- You can list cards for sale ahead of marketplace launch ("pre-launch listings"). These listings are visible to other users in the marketplace browse but cannot be purchased — purchase functionality is disabled platform-wide.
- You can edit your profile, define your seller status (private or commercial), and preview the marketplace experience.
What the beta does NOT cover:
- Real purchases: NO money changes hands between buyers and sellers during the beta. Any displayed prices are placeholders for the live launch.
- Stripe Connect onboarding: deferred until the live launch. The KYC and bank-account linking flow is shown as "Coming at full launch" placeholder.
- Refund handling, dispute resolution, shipping arrangements: not applicable in beta because there are no transactions.
3. Account Requirements
To use Riftr you must:
- If you are a minor, only use Riftr with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Marketplace purchases require you to be at least 18 years old (confirmed at checkout); selling requires identity verification through our payment provider Stripe, which is only available to adults.
- Provide a valid email address that you control.
- Choose a display name that does not impersonate another person, contain offensive language, or violate third-party trademark rights.
- Provide accurate information when you list cards (postal address, seller status, and — for commercial sellers — legal entity name and VAT-ID).
You may delete your account at any time via Profile → Edit Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is irreversible.
4. Pre-Launch Listings
When you create a listing during the beta, it is stored with status "pre_launch". Pre-launch listings:
- Are visible to other beta users in the marketplace browse and Smart Cart.
- Cannot be purchased — the buy button shows "Soon" and the platform refuses any payment attempt server-side.
- Will transition to active "for-sale" status at full launch IF you have completed the seller onboarding (including Stripe Connect KYC, which is not yet possible). If you have not completed Stripe at launch, your listings stay in pre-launch state until you do.
Listings remain your responsibility: accuracy of card identification, condition, language, foil flag, price, and quantity. Inaccurate listings may be removed by Riftr.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for fraudulent, misleading, or abusive purposes.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users.
- Post listings for items other than genuine Riftbound TCG cards (no counterfeit cards, no proxies marketed as real, no unrelated items).
- Use bots, scrapers or automated tooling to access the platform beyond the official app interface.
- Attempt to bypass the disabled purchase gate or any other security control.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app to remove safety features.
Riftr may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules. Suspension reasons are communicated in-app where reasonably possible.
6. Your Content Licence
When you post listings, write reviews, or publish decks ("user content"), you grant Riftr a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute this content within the app and on the getriftr.app marketing site for the purpose of operating the marketplace and the social features. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account. Reviews — both those you have written and those you have received — are deleted as part of account deletion.
7. Intellectual Property
Riftr, the Riftr logo, and the platform design are protected. The Riftbound trading card game, including card names, artwork and rules, is owned by Riot Games, Inc. Riftr is an independent companion app and is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Riot Games. Card images shown in the app are used for identification and reference under fair-use principles.
8. Beta Software — Limitation of Liability
The Riftr beta is provided "as is" and "as available". Features may break, data may be lost in catastrophic failure scenarios, and the app may be unavailable due to maintenance or third-party-provider outages. To the extent permitted by law, Riftr is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the beta.
These limitations do not apply to:
- Mandatory liability under the German Produkthaftungsgesetz.
- Liability for injury to life, body or health caused by negligent breach.
- Damages caused by intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
9. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time and delete your account in-app. Riftr may terminate your access for material breach of these Beta Terms (e.g. fraud, harassment, abuse), with prior notice unless the breach is so severe that immediate termination is required (e.g. ongoing fraud).
10. Governing Law and Venue
These Beta Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
For consumers ordinarily resident in the EU/EEA, mandatory consumer-protection laws of the consumer's country of residence remain unaffected.
Place of jurisdiction for non-consumer disputes is Bielefeld, Germany.
11. Payments and Stripe (at Launch)
Riftr is only an intermediary. When the marketplace goes live, all payments between buyers and sellers are processed exclusively by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd.), an independent, licensed payment service provider. Riftr is not a payment service and at no time holds, controls, or has access to your money.
To receive payments, you as a seller complete Stripe's own identity and KYC process and enter into a direct contract with Stripe, the Stripe Connected Account Agreement (https://stripe.com/legal/connect-account). You receive your own Stripe dashboard with login, reporting, payout management and your own refund and dispute tools. KYC, anti-money-laundering compliance, payout handling and the management of your financial data take place solely between you and Stripe.
There is no Riftr escrow account and no Riftr collection account holding your funds, and no money flows through any Riftr bank account. Seller payout timing is controlled entirely by Stripe. Riftr cannot actively pay you out and cannot move buyer funds on its own. Payouts and any refunds happen automatically through Stripe under the Stripe Connected Account Terms and the refund rules set out in these Terms, and Riftr does not make case-by-case decisions over your money against the will of either party.
12. Changes and Final Terms
Riftr may amend these Beta Terms during the beta to reflect feature changes, legal updates, or feedback. Substantial changes will be notified in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the app after that point counts as acceptance.
BEFORE the marketplace transitions to full launch (with real payments and shipping), these Beta Terms will be replaced by the final Terms of Service. You will be prompted to review and accept the new Terms in-app — you cannot make or receive real payments without that acceptance.
13. Contact
For questions about these Beta Terms, please write to contact@getriftr.app. For data-protection requests, see the Privacy Policy. For imprint information (§ 5 DDG), see the Imprint.
